Desirée Mayr (BR)

Violinist with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Mayr holds a Master’s degree in Creative Processes in Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro / UFRJ (2015), a Bachelor’s in Violin from the UFRJ School of Music (2012), a certification in violin performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (1995), and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Physics from King´s College, University of London (1993). She has participated in congresses of the Royal Musical Association (2014/2015) and symposia of the Brazilian Association of Research and Graduate Studies in Music. As a performer, Mayr is active as a soloist and chamber musician, participating in music festivals and recording music for films and television. At the present time she is preparing a doctoral-level proposal centered on an analysis of Leopoldo Miguez’s Violin Sonata Op.14.
